If you are interested in different types of formal verse, and how these forms effect and shape communication, I can think of no better collection to study. If you are interested in nature centered poetry, this is a fine collection for contemplation.All of the poems in this collection are on the theme of Willows and all but a few of the poems are examples of formal verse. The forms include sonnet, villanelle, sestina, triolet, and syllabic forms such as tetractys, etheree, and lantern, among many others. I found it fascinating to see how the different forms shaped the topic, how the form created a kind of lens through which we see the willow.
Also impressive is Eastoak's evident skill and ease with this large variety of forms. I find this personally inspiring and I suspect other readers will as well. As a manual for how different types of formal verse work, this is a superb resource. As a collection of poetry I think you will find yourself uplifted by these nature centered contemplations.
